QR678® vs GFC
How is QR678 different from GFC?
Hair loss is a condition that has kept many people baffled for years. Scientifically known as alopecia, this condition affects both men and women and may be caused due to a plethora of factors such as genetics, hormonal discrepancies, nutrition and lifestyle disorders. For years, the solution to hair loss has been medication and surgical hair transplant.
These medications, including Minoxidil and Finasteride, are riddled with side effects such as the itchy scalp, sexual dysfunction, infection on the scalp etc. Minimal side effects and non-invasive treatment are the two important factors that patients seek in hair fall treatments.
QR678
The QR678 research & development platform technology is a proprietary first-in-class technology. This science backed technology is giving rise to multiple products that arrest hair fall and address the thickness, density of hair follicles leading to greater coverage in hair loss. This R&D technology deals with multiple human hair growth related growth factors that are naturally present in our scalp making products derived from these completely natural. Research on this platform technology has resulted in this being awarded USA & Indian patents and has led to over 13+ clinical research papers being published with products derived from this unique technology. The hair growth factors penetrate deep into the scalp and provide nourishment to the scale. Unlike other treatments that contains harmful medication, products derived from QR678 are almost completely devoid of side effects.
GFC
Growth factor concentrate (GFC) is a treatment approach in the field of hair restoration that involves the use of growth factors to potentially stimulate hair growth and improve the overall health of hair follicles. Growth factors are naturally occurring proteins in the body that play a crucial role in cell growth and tissue repair. In the context of hair loss treatment, GFC is often derived from the patient’s own blood, similar to platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy but in specialized tubes that supposedly help in further concentration of the growth factors.
| QR678® | GFC |
| Standardized solutions – concentration of growth factors, method & frequency of administration, dosage, etc. | No standardization |
| Robust clinical data on safety and efficacy | Unreliable and methodically inadequate data |
| Proved to be more effective than PRP | Lesser efficacy compared to QR678 Neo |
| Targeted solutions – only hair growth specific factors in the right concentration | Multipurpose and non hair specific – jack of all trades, master of none |
| Clinical evidence in – AGA, Anagen effluvium, CTE, AA | Lack of valid evidence |
| Easy and quick to use | Cumbersome and longer procedure |
| No growth inhibitory factors | Some inhibitory factors present |
| No investment in devices/ instrumentation | Investment for devices |
| No biohazard | Contact with body fluids |
| Negligible side effects | Painful, higher incidence of side effects |
| Patented products, regulatory approved in 10+ countries | Not regulatory/ FDA approved. |
GFC is not effective if
- Your hair loss is due to conditions such as lupus and thyroid diseases
- You are on blood thinning medications
- You have been losing hair for more than five years
- You are suffering from skin cancer or have an infection on the scalp
- You have bleeding and clotting disorders
What is GFC?
GFC or Growth Factor Concentrate is a solution derived from your own blood that contains a high concentration of growth factors that aid in hair regrowth. GFC treatment, although readily available, is met with a number of hurdles and challenges. They are a non-standardized treatment modality for hair regrowth
that may not give consistent results. There is a dire lack of research studies in medical literature that back the rationale behind the use of GFC for hair regrowth.
Limitation of GFC
- Lack of standardization
- Limited scientific evidence
- Potential side effects such as- pain, discomfort, swelling
- Variability in results
- Increased procedure time
- Need to withdraw blood
How is QR678® different from GFC?
A clinical study was conducted to compare and evaluate the effectiveness of QR678® and GFC, to better understand the results of both the treatment modalities.
Patients included:
- ● Male/ Female Pattern Hair Loss (Androgenetic alopecia, Norwood Hamilton Grade II to IV)
- ● Age group: 25 - 50 years
- ● Poor response for ≥ 1 year of conventional hair-related medical therapy.
Patients excluded:
- ● Immunosuppression (malignancy, chemotherapy, steroids)
- ● Scalp skin diseases
- ● Autoimmune / Hematologic disorders
- ● Platelet dysfunction syndrome / on anticoagulants
- ● Keloidal tendency
- ● On aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), discontinued 7 days before
Method:-
Clinical assessment was done at baseline, 6 months and 1 year by:
● Hair pull test
● Global photographic assessment
● Video microscopic assessment
Results:
Group A (QR678®) showcased clinically and statistically significant results :
● Better increase in hair shaft diameter (thickness)
● Better increase in hair follicle density
● Superior retention of the hair follicles at 12 months
● Decrease in vellus hair/ miniaturized hair
● Clinically negligible postoperative side effects
● Least pain, as compared to GFC
● Least clinical chair-side time
